Being a tough cop is one thing, but she overdid it. She comes across as unfeeling, inappropriate, callous, and tunnel-visioned. I found it highly unrealistic that a competent, experienced detective would behave in this manner, because at times her pursuit of Ben as a suspect was unprofessional.
Juliette Lewis is a phenomenal actress, and I'm disappointed in how she portrayed this character, who could have and should have been written with more nuance.
The main character, Ben, is one of the most unintelligent human beings I've ever met. I found myself saying "oh, come on! Overall, this is a fun series that is definitely worth watching if you like murder mysteries.
Just don't expect a realistic storyline. Finally, the twist I've been waiting for! This series keeps getting better with each passing episode. Every time I thought I had it figured out, a another plot twist would come up out of nowhere.
Even Juliette Lewis' performance in this episode was a solid one! I'd thought she had type-cast her self into only being able to play trashy, slutty characters!
Ryan Philippe's performance has been solidly earnest and believable the entire time, and hid buddy Dave added much to the story.
I'm glad to see this series move into the homestretch so masterfully! GREAT new series last year. Really bummed they tried continuing it for a second season without Mr.

However, there is two disappointments with the DVD release. I had seen the clip and this 5 minutes clip made a better conclusion to season one, because Season Two focused on a new storyline.
As you may or may not know, Ryan Phillippe didn't continue with the show in season 2, and this 5 minute clip that is missing in the DVD, explained what happened to his character, along with a better conclusion to the story.
I have read that it was mentioned what happened to Ryan Phillippe's character in Season 2, but I don't believe the explanation was with the clip shown from the ABC's exclusive online website.
