Having started shooting in April , the first season premiered on Channel 4 on October 24, , with the whole season being released on All4 after the first episode aired, before it then arrived on Netflix on January 5, According to Channel 4's content boss Ian Katz, the second season will air first on Channel 4 once more and won't reach Netflix — in the UK, at least — for roughly a year.

In case you're wondering why Netflix gets to make the reveal when it actually broadcasts first on Channel 4 in the UK, especially with Ian Katz complaining about the fact people think it's a Netflix series, the streaming service does air the show in the US.

So now you know. And we're sure Channel 4 won't turn their nose up at that level of engagement — over a million likes and counting. It wouldn't be the show it is without Lawther and Barden, but while the latter has been confirmed, there's been no word on James.

Away from the lead pairing, the most likely returning characters from the first season would be James's father Phil Steve Oram , Alyssa's mum Gwen Christine Bottomley and Alyssa's sleazy stepfather Tony Navin Chowdhry.

We imagine Gemma Whelan and Wunmi Mosaku would also be back as DC Eunice Noon and her partner DC Teri Donoghue, respectively, unless James and Alyssa have somehow managed to successfully avoid capture, despite being cornered at a beach in the season finale.

And, excitingly, there's going to be a brand new character. There will also be another new character called Gus; a motel owner played by Taskmaster 's Tim Key.

During their road trip to find Alyssa's father who turned out to be a worthless scrounger , James and Alyssa took a break in a house that they thought was unoccupied for a while.

Unfortunately, the owner came back to interrupt their fun and what's worse, he turned out to be a serial killer who attacked Alyssa, only for James to protect her by killing him.

It was this murder that saw them on the run, and after Alyssa's father had told the police where they were, DC Noon caught up with them. James confessed to everything and said that Alyssa had nothing to do with it, but Alyssa tried to stop him by knocking out DC Noon and running away with him.

However, James hit Alyssa to stop her running away and as he made his escape across the beach, we heard a gunshot as it cut to black. Interestingly, the ending as originally shot "left it more unlikely that James was alive" according to Lawther , so clearly it was re-cut with an eye on continuing the story.

Lawther had never ruled out a second season because it was an opportunity for writer Charlie Covell to make the show her own.

Based on Charles Forsman's comic book series James, a self-proclaimed psychopath, and Alyssa, the moody new girl at school, make a connection and embark on a road trip just for the sake of escaping the world they deeply dislike, followed by a series of mishaps.

Only these nihilistic characters could make misanthropy somehow relatable and hilarious. Incredibly shocking and full of unexpected twists that make it truly fascinating.

This season keeps almost all good qualities about the first season - very well shot, surprising, a bit of action etc.

Netflix really did save themselves by not going with the ending that was in the comic to make another season. All in all still a great series and I am hoping for a season three but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

The show has a delightfully strange premise that definitely felt unique. I remember watching the first season when this show was trending initially and just liked it okay.

I think its an unpopular opinion but I quite liked the second season of this series more. I thought the story was more involving and the characters were given more room to grow.

Overall, if you need a quick watch that's equal parts dark, romantic, and even funny, this is a solid choice. Yash B.

Lex S. May 31, This is one of the best shows I have ever watched. You get the exhilaration at the end of each episode and you will just keep wanting more and more.

This is VERY well written and everything is very clear. The film is very beautiful as well, the tone and mood of each scene really draws attention to the plot and the characters.

I have to say, Alex Lawther's performance in this show was excellent! His acting really showed the depth and emotion this story has.

He brought attention to every little detail and I don't think anyone could ever play this role as brilliant and astonishing as this fellow actor did.

As well as Alex, Jessica Barden was also outstanding. The way she portrayed this role was perfect. The way these two characters Alex and Jessica connected was amazing.

I could see the feelings they had towards each other and no other actors could have a connection as great as these two do.

Also, to Naomi Ackie for portraying Bonnie very perfectly. Amazing show, very brilliant. She makes a fine pairing with Barton, in particular, bouncing steely gazes and unyielding willfulness off of each other in every scene.

Worldwide audiences are about to become familiar with Ackie in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and if her performance here is any indication, we should definitely start getting excited about meeting her mystery character.
